Departure from Lisboa Congress Centre by bus to Sintra. This village was described by Lord Byron as "Glorious Eden and is classified by UNESCO as World Heritage Site. Visit of the National Palace, distinguished by its conical twin kitchen chimneys. Time free in the village’s centre and to taste the famous “Travesseiros” - a typical pastry. On to the Roca Cape, the westernmost point of Continental Europe. Stop for you to enjoy the fantastic landscape and take some photos. The tour will continue to the small historical centre of Cascais, an old fishing village. Stop and time free. Return to the Lisboa Congress Centre, passing by Estoril, with its gardens and Casino.

Monumental Lisbon

Tuesday, 05 June 2012 - 09.00 – 13.00

We depart from the Lisboa Congress Centre for the historical quarter of Belém where you will find some of the most remarkable monuments from the 15th and 16th centuries. Brief stop at the Belém Tower - world heritage by UNESCO (Torre de Belém) and at the Monument to the Discoveries (Monumento das Descobertas), that celebrates the Portuguese who took part in the Discoveries. Visit the church of the Hieronymites Monastery (Mosteiro dos Jerónimos). Classified by UNESCO as World Heritage, this monument is a masterpiece of the “Manueline” style. The tour will continue along the river towards the old quarter of Alfama, with its typical streets. Walk up until St Jorge Castle where you will have one of the most beautiful views over the city. Return by bus to the Lisboa Congress Centre. (Suggested to wear comfortable shoes)

Óbidos, Batalha and Fátima

Wednesday, 06 June 2012 - 08h30 – 17.30

We depart from the Lisboa Congress Centre to the charming medieval town of Óbidos. Lying 100 km north of Lisbon it is without doubt one of Portugal's most classic walled settlements. Enjoy a walk on its narrow cobblestone streets with whitewashed houses. St. Mary´s Church, the Castle and the typical local bars where it is possible to taste a cherry brandy – “Ginginha” (not included). We will continue to Nazaré, probably the most famous fishing town in Portugal. Proceed to Batalha and visit the Monastery of Santa Maria da Vitória, a masterpiece of late Gothic and Manueline architecture. On to Fatima, one of the most important Catholic centers of pilgrimage. Visit the Sanctuary including the little Chapel of the Apparitions and also the impressive Basilica. Return to the Lisbon Congress Centre after the visit.

Thursday, 07 June 2012 - 08.30 – 17.30

Departure to Évora,the capital of the Alentejo province and classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The “City Museum” is rich in history and is the home of one of the most well-preserved old town centers. Within its medieval walls, we will see the Roman Temple, the Évora University (exterior) and the Bones Chapel. With its diverse heritage, Evora has plenty to offer visitors.Time free to take a walk along its charming streets. Return to Lisbon Congress Centre.

Price per person: €82 including the admission fee to the Bones Chapel and lunch during the journey.

Notes for all Tours

  1. Rates are in Euros (€) including VAT and taxes.
  2. Reservation requests will be confirmed on a first come, first served basis.
  3. The tours require a minimum of 20 participants. If minimum numbers are not reached, the tour will be cancelled and participants will receive full payment reimbursement. Reimbursements will be made on site at the Secretariat. If a bank transfer will be needed, bank expenses will be deducted.
  4. All tours departure from, and return to, the Congress Centre, and will be accompanied by an English speaking official guide.
  5. Additional tickets may be purchased on site at the tour desk in the Ad Médic Tours Desk(subject to availability).
  6. It is not possible to refund tickets in the case of cancellation or failure to arrive on time. Full payment is required at the time of reservation
  7. Cancellations received up to 15 May 2012 - full refund. All refunds will be made on site at the Secretariat. If a bank transfer will be needed bank expenses will be deducted.
  8. Cancellations received after 15 May 2012 - No refund will apply•
  9. Pre-booked tickets will be included in the participant’s personal envelope, which is handed over upon registration.
